Glow plugs are one of the most important components when trying to start a diesel in cold weather. Worn or inoperative glow plugs can cause a hard start or even check engine lights on today’s newer trucks.

- 2022 Pre-refresh – The 12th digit of the VIN is a 4 or lower.
- GM recommends replacing the glow plugs if pulled from the bore
- New plugs will need to be programmed once installed
- Whenever replacing a ceramic glow plug, it is required to use a glow plug hole bore cleaning tool to remove the soot build up on the inside of the glow plug hole. If not, when installing a new glow plug, the soot could “side load” and induce a premature failure. Recommend using tool
